No worries! That number is allies on all the other gree games - this one just operates a little differently since the number of allies doesn't affect how many monsters you can bring to battle.

...keeping in mind they only way those two players fight is either to level up to the point where your battle list includes folks who aren't your level or those two players were the same level at...

Just to echo what others say, camping lets you hide in the rival list. You're spot on that it doesn't actually preclude you from running into dudes with much strong armies, it just makes it less...

Also, you can't actually see how many allies an opponent has - doesn't show up in the profile screen; all you can see is silo capacity (in the battle list) and number of monsters (in the profile...
