So, here's the full and complete story on skill resets. Gather around the fire and I'll tell you a bit about the history of the game.

Once, a long long time ago (about a year, I think), we made some pretty massive changes to the game. We added stats, zones, features, all kinds of things, and it really ruined a lot of players to have their skills distributed the way they were. So, we gave out a free skill reset to everyone. This made a button on your profile that let you reset your skills. Some players got a bugged reset that lasted forever, but we wouldn't find out about that until much later.

About that same day, we started getting e-mails from players who used the skill reset but had a hard time figuring out how buttons worked, or just got really enthusiastic, and spent their points incorrectly. We decided to give them a manual reset (which takes a person changing your settings, as opposed to a global that takes a person changing one setting.) to make sure they were okay. At first we were giving people resets whenever they asked.

Eventually things started getting out of hand. We were getting hundreds of e-mails every day by people asking for skill resets. They were using the resets to refill their energy and stamina, and generally mess with the game. Go all energy, get a reset, keep going, get a reset, swap to all defense before you logged out for the day. Not cool. We also gave out another global reset or two during this point.

This went on for a few months, until we decided that players would only get one manual skill reset any more. We started turning people down after the first reset, but we were still getting about twice as many skill reset e-mails as every other e-mail combined.

About 3 or 4 months ago we talked and came to the decision that skill resets were just bad in general and were hurting the game. We cut everyone off. No more skill resets, automated e-mails for everyone asking for resets. This freed our helpdesk guys up to actually help people, and made things a lot better. We started getting reports of people claiming to be getting resets, but assumed it was rumor. Eventually we found out that some people had bugged resets that lasted forever, so we fixed the bug.

No no one gets resets, we aren't giving them out, and that's the whole story.
