A Canned History of 499 Rat Catching

A lot of people have been PM'ing me asking about Rat Catching, what it's all about, is it a 'gang', how do they 'join', what 499 is all about, and a few threads have cropped up recently (presumably from the newer Android users) asking the same sort of things - so to make life easier, I thought I'd bring everything together into one thread.

So here you go, Rat Catching 101...

The thread that started it all... Join the 499 Rat Catcher Crew - Click Me

We then came up with Rat Catcher Ranks - Click Me

Ranks Update - Assassin - Click Me

Welcome Rat Catchers - An Intro Thread - Click Me

And so the week of anti-Rat action began. Here's the News from that week...

Day 1 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 2 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 3 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 4 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 5 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 6 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

Day 7 of the Rat Wars - Click Me

So where is Rat Catching at now?

Well Rat Catching is not so much an event these days, as an ongoing strategy/philosophy that those involved subscribe to. Many players that have completed Thug Life now make a point of attacking 499 (or players of any mob size below 500) in preference to hitting players with mobs of 500+

    Is it a Gang?

No, Rat Catchers are not a gang. Rat Catching is an ongoing non-Funzio, by-the-people-for-the-people Event. It doesn't matter what your allegiance is, or what Gang you are affiliated to - Rat Catching is an activity that is open to all - there is only one mutual enemy, the 499 Rat.

    Is Rat Catching still active?

It's a daily activity. Indeed Rat Catching is now recommended by the Surgeon General as a vital part of your daily diet, and has been found to be beneficial in maintaining good health

On occasions we do get a Call to Arms from one of the Rat Catching fraternity, and then we embark on a more concerted group effort - most recently for example, Koralene suggested Wac-a-Rac Weekend.

Anyone that classes themselves as a Rat Catcher can make these Calls to Arms at any time - there is no boss, no leader, just a bunch of like-minded players with a common goal... the Catching of Rats, the stealing of their Cheese, the pulling of their Tails.

Personally, on a daily basis I now focus my efforts on robbing them rather than attacking them. They can shrug off an attack quite easily, but if you steal their money they tend to go ape and cry like babies - which is great fun

    So now you know.

So you wanna be a Rat Catcher? Don't talk about it, just do it....

P.S. There is no real animosity towards these Rats, it is their right to reduce their Mob as a tactic. But likewise it is our right to Attack them as a tactic, because their Mob size visibly puts up a flag that sets them apart from other players - it's just too damn tempting to Rob/Attack players that are so obviously trying to avoid being Robbed/Attacked!!

Many Rats will have you believe that Rat Catchers are evil. Not True. We are the beautiful people

    @Burn

One reason you get a lot of PMs is that every time someone asks me about it, I refer them to you.
GREE(D) is trying to put the fun back into Funzio.

Burn, that's a better than what much of TV networks call "documentary" television. Thanks for wrapping it up into one easy to read package.

Regardless of your stance on this, one thing is clear from its success: people want more from the game than 1-on-1 PvP. The ability to create a unified group and go after other unified groups is a feature this game that it's severely lacking.

Well, this is actually my first post on any forum and I choose to have it on this thread! I've been reading much about this game of late in the forums (wish I did earlier...lol). But what I appreciate about this thread, especially after the PvP tourney where I did take some additional beatings because of the TL tie in, is that all you 499ers get more of a pass. My stats aren't the greatest, not bad, but not the greatest and I don't go running to hide. So today I became a member and started my chasing. I've always been Giovane D'Honere but for many a days to come I will be a Capo Bastone!

Thanks to vitus79 for calling me a lurch for not being a member of the forums....haha, thanks for the push friend!

And a very special thanks to all the OG's who broke down this game so well and allowed us all the opportunity to learn and grow from their posts (TS, Syn and so many others)!!! Thanks Spartacus for keeping it going with the new "best of the best" links!!!

    Happy hunting everyone!!
