2. (more important question) is there a limit to the number of "$1000" you can receive for visiting an ally base? I was under the impression it was once every 24 hours?

Answers already but jic. I believe you need to make 10 posts in threads before your able to create your own thread. And you can only collect $1000 per ally,per day ,25 allies, for a total of $25,000.
When your a lower level, the money helps but as you get further in the game, 25k is pocket change.

When I level up and I get an extra ally, is this a cyberspace ally, or a real person ally? And what is the level or strength of this extra ally? I am almost level 92, and am trying to stay at 497 allies so I don't become shark fodder for those attempting to gain valor points by attacking players with 498 or more allies, so I delete the lowest levels allies as these new allies are added.

At level 92 your max ally amount is only 460. (5 * Your Level or 500, whichever is smaller).

In CC we have this thing called Rat Catching. Basically we go after after people with 499 mafia and rob their buildings for their acts of cowardice since they hide at 499 mafia so that they can't be hit for TL goals where you need to hit people with 500 mafia.
If I'm considered a rat by trying to avoid being continually decimated by others way stronger than me, then I guess I can live with the label. It's called playing strategy, and not playing a popularity contest.
