Born in Lancashire, life long England supporter. Saw them beat Columbia 2-1 in Lens in '98 and draw Sweden 2-2 in Cologne in '06 (match Owen did his cruciate in ... never been the same since).

Last night England were, simply put, woeful. 36/64 possession and 9 shots to 35 against an average Italy side is an absolute disgrace. Not sure Ashley Young completed a successful pass in 120 minutes of play. All too fitting he buggered his penalty to swing the tide back to Italy in a shootout England didn't deserve to be in.

When it finally and mercifully ended my overwhelming emotion was not my usual sadness or even anger but rather utter relief. Utter relief at not having to be sickened a moment more by yet another disinterested England display at a major tournament.
